What is the Montessori Method?
The Montessori Method is a way of learning that supports the whole child, not just academically, but also physically, emotionally, socially, and morally.
At its core, it’s about giving children the freedom to explore and learn at their own pace, within clear and consistent boundaries. This means children can choose activities that interest them, while also learning responsibility, respect, and self-discipline. The classroom environment is very thoughtfully prepared, with materials and activities that match each child’s stage of development. This allows learning to happen in a natural, hands-on way, rather than being forced or rushed.
The key idea is that children are naturally motivated to learn. In Montessori, we trust that inner drive and create the right environment to support it, guiding children as they grow into confident, capable, and independent individuals.
Through her work with children around the world, Maria Montessori noticed that all children share certain natural traits, no matter their background. These qualities guide how they grow, learn, and interact with the world.
